About the GIS Department
Operating under the Board of Public Works and Safety, the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Office is responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining accurate digital maps of New Castle’s water and sewer utility networks. By synthesizing field surveys, legacy engineering records, new development plans, and local staff expertise, our office maintains a comprehensive spatial database of the city’s critical infrastructure.

Environmental & Long-Term Planning
The GIS Office actively supports the development and implementation of the City’s Long-Term Control Plan and MS4 (Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System) Program. We generate and submit required spatial data and annual mapping reports to ensure full compliance with state and federal environmental standards.
